A rainy day in Thessaloniki

1st Stop Archaeological Museum: A place of culture, education, science and communication. One of the largest museums in Greece and the central museum of northern Greece. It holds and interprets artifacts from the Prehistoric, Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods.
2nd Stop Museum of Byzantine Culture: The 11 galleries of the permanent exhibition display the different views of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine culture. The museum has several conservation workshops and archaeological store rooms.
3rd Stop White Tower Museum: The White Tower has a large exhibition dedicated to the city and its history throughout various periods. It is the most known monument of Thessaloniki and the symbol of the city.
4th Stop Church and Catacombs of Saint Dimitrios: One of the most important churches of Thessaloniki. Devoted to the patron Saint of the city, dating from a time when it was the second largest city of the Byzantine Empire. The basilica of Agios Dimitrios is on the list of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Underneath the church is the underground ancient “Crypt”. It has been Archaeological service and was converted into an exhibition space in 1988.
