  Ladera is the most popular category of Greek food. It is cooked with a lot of olive oil. It consists of plain or stuffed vegetables and cooked in tomato sauce with onion, garlic and olive oil sauce. Usually preferred with feta cheese or yogurt and bread and sometimes with potatoes. It is healthy and nutritious and it is affordable and easily available in the restaurants.

Greek Salad

  Greek salad is known and loved around the world. Greek salad is a nutritional power house. Greek salad is made with pieces of tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, onion, feta cheese, and olives, typically seasoned with salt and Greek mountain oregano, and dressed with olive oil.


  Gemista is all time a favourite summer cuisine. Gemista or yemista (which in Greek means ‘filled with’) is a traditional recipe for Greek stuffed tomatoes and/or other vegetables that are baked, until soft and nicely browned. The traditional Greek recipe for Gemista can be either vegetarian, where the Gemista are filled with rice, chopped vegetables and baked in a tomato based sauce, or they may contain minced beef or pork (don't forget to ask).

  Next up, we have vegetable based Risottos. These are usually totally Vegan on their own. If you eat daries, sliced cucumbers, onions, feta cheese and olives, enjoy them with some Greek Yogurt or Feta Cheese.  Spinach rice is probably the most popular.
